Heavy oil is so thick and viscous that it's hard to coax from the ground. At our Heavy Oil University, we train engineers and geologists from Chevron's operations around the world in techniques to extract this oil. These two-year assignments in the San Joaquin Valley provide hands-on experience with using steamflood technology to enhance recovery from heavy oil fields like those in Indonesia and the Partitioned Zone between Saudi Arabia and Kuwait.
